2011 - OGC, Nimr Compression Station, Oman
Summary
The Nimr Compression Station project was a crucial part of Oman Gas Company’s efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its gas distribution network. The station was designed to boost pressure and ensure a stable supply of natural gas to industrial consumers, power plants, and processing facilities.
Challanges
One of the primary challenges was ensuring the continuous operation of compression units, given the demanding environmental conditions, including high temperatures and sandstorms. In addition, optimizing the redundancy and maintenance strategy was essential to minimize downtime while maximizing availability.
Solution
Conducted a comprehensive RAM study to analyze compressor reliability and identify critical failure points.
Developed a preventive and predictive maintenance strategy, balancing scheduled downtime with production efficiency.
Implemented a spare parts optimization approach to ensure key components were available without excessive inventory costs.
Applied fault tree analysis (FTA) to assess failure scenarios and improve system redundancy.
